What disavowfile.com does

disavowfile.com checks and creates disavow files for Google Search Console. A visitor uploads a file or pastes a list of URLs and domains, and enters an email address. The file is processed on a server in Finland, and the visitor receives one email with a private link to the report.

What data is collected

Submission details

Each submission stores the email address, the IP address, and the browser user agent in an EU database. These details are used only to send the report email and to prevent abuse. They are deleted as soon as the report email is sent, and in any case within 48 hours of the submission.

Uploaded files and patterns

The uploaded file or pasted patterns, the analysis, and the corrected file are stored without the submission details, in EU-based storage. The report and the corrected file are reachable through the private report link for 7 days. Files of rejected or failed submissions are deleted after 7 days. Files of valid reports are kept long term for testing and research. They are never shared or made public.

A disavow file normally contains URLs and domains of websites. Personal data does not belong in a disavow file and should not be submitted.

Bot and spam protection

The upload form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. To verify a submission, the Turnstile token and the IP address are sent to Cloudflare. Pasted patterns, the IP address and the email address of a Generator submission are checked against the spam filter centaur.re. Visits of known search engine crawlers are recorded by IP address and user agent to maintain a crawler registry.

Analytics

Visits are counted with a self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics on a.disavowfile.com. Plausible does not use cookies and does not store IP addresses or build visitor profiles. The statistics are aggregated.

Technical logs

Requests and errors are logged for troubleshooting, security, and abuse prevention. Error reports remove email addresses and IP addresses before they are stored. Logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

Service providers

The website runs on Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., with storage set to the EU jurisdiction). Files are processed on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH in Finland. Report emails are sent through Cloudflare Email Sending. Cloudflare, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. All providers process data on behalf of the operator under data processing agreements.

Lawful basis

Email address and report. Performance of the requested service (Art. 6(1)(b) DSGVO) and consent given on the form (Art. 6(1)(a) DSGVO). Consent can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.

IP address, user agent, bot and spam checks, and logs. Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) DSGVO) in protecting the service against misuse and keeping the service running.

Stored files. Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) DSGVO) in testing and improving the parser. The stored files contain no submission details.

Where processing is based on legitimate interests, data subjects have the right to object under Art. 21(1) DSGVO.

Rights of data subjects

Data subjects have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection, under Art. 15 to 21 DSGVO. Requests go to fili@disavowfile.com. Data subjects also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.

Cookies

disavowfile.com sets no cookies for advertising, tracking, or analytics. Cloudflare may set security cookies in connection with the Turnstile bot check. These cookies are used solely for security and service integrity.

No advertising tracking or profiling

The site shows a sponsor card with a plain link. No ad network, tracking pixel, or profiling is used, and no data is shared for marketing purposes.
